Shirley Radleys participation in the 1951 England eight questioned – her dad was a professional!

Despite Shirley not being involved in the Radley boat yard business, her husband Tom Boyde remembers her presence in the 1951 England eight was questioned on the basis that she was a daughter of a professional, her father Sid Radley. This took the form of a letter to the ARA even though there was a Womens ARA in existence at the time. Shirley was furious but nothing came of it and she was able to compete.
